I am Kate, I’m a Consultant Psychotherapist working across Lancashire & Merseyside.

Starting my career as an nurse in acute mental health in 2000, I developed my practice and have worked as a Psychotherapist for almost 20 years. I am qualified and experienced in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT Accredited) EMDR and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am also skilled and experienced in Compassion- focussed Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Imagery Rehearsal.

I work with individuals and families and can offer assessment and therapy with adults and young people; specialising in complex trauma and mental health challenges, relationship difficulties and harmful behaviours such as addiction and self-harm. I have experience delivering therapy across a range of client groups including complex mental health, transforming care clients, family court and local authority referrals and occupational health referrals.

Life can be challenging and there are times when a listening ear or a helping hand is needed.

Psychological therapies can provide both; a curious and skilled listener can support you to develop understanding and awareness of the challenges you face and a creative and supportive helper can provide guidance and encouragement as they walk alongside you to explore alternative ways of managing your challenges.

I am a Consultant Psychotherapist and am qualified and experienced in a range of psychological models. I aim to help understanding, promote recognition of patterns of coping and relating and offer alternatives to the, sometimes unhelpful, ways in which we try to cope with difficulties, challenges and struggles.

Specialising in emotional and mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression, self-harm, stress, trauma and relationship problems individually tailored, compassion-focussed therapy can help you to understand your difficulties and plan exits from where you are stuck.

As well as more formally recognised emotional and mental health challenges, psychological therapy can be assistive during transitions and periods of change and adjustments in employment, relationships or financial status. All can be supported through psychological working. Substance use, such as reliance of alcohol or recreational drugs can also be addressed using recognised therapy models. Family challenges and family court proceedings are a speciality area of work and I also offer therapeutic parenting sessions.
